First-hand only

We only write about places we have actually stayed at, eaten at, or bought from. Where an article mentions something we did not try ourselves, it says so.

Prices and dates

Prices, hours and menus are what we saw on the date stated in the article. They change, and we do not promise to keep every article current. Where we convert yen to dollars, the article states the rate it uses.

How articles are produced

Our notes, photos and receipts are written in Japanese first. English articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools from those notes and our Japanese articles, then checked against the original notes and public sources before publication. Nothing is published that we did not experience.

Independence

No hotel, restaurant, brand or tourism board pays for coverage or reviews any article before it goes live. Some booking links are affiliate links; see the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

If you find an error, please tell us on Bluesky. We correct the article and note the update date.
